Plain to Beautiful: Easy Kurti Redesign Using DTF/ Heat trnasfer Stickers
Heat transfer stickers, also called DTF (Direct to Film) stickers, are becoming a huge trend in the fashion industry these days. I used the same technique to transform this simple plain kurti into a stylish designer outfit.
What Are Heat Transfer or DTF Stickers?
DTF stickers are digitally printed transfer designs that can be easily applied to fabric using heat. The process is very simple — just place the design on the fabric and press it with an iron or heat press. Within minutes, the design gets transferred beautifully onto the material.
One of the biggest advantages of DTF stickers is the wide variety of designs available in the market. From floral motifs and butterflies to abstract patterns and traditional designs, there are endless options to experiment with. These stickers are also easily available in online stores. I bought these beautiful floral and butterfly designs from Amazon India shop. for this kurti makeover project.

Why I Chose DTF Stickers for This Kurti Redesign:
DTF stickers are extremely easy to use. We simply need to place the design on the fabric and iron over it carefully. Within minutes, the print gets transferred beautifully onto the material. They are also very budget-friendly. I paid just Rs. 399 for these two designs used in this kurti makeover.
Traditional embroidery and fabric painting definitely have their own charm, beauty, and artistic value. But both require a lot of time, patience, and effort. In today’s fast-moving world, where people look for quick and stylish fashion solutions, DTF stickers are becoming a wonderful alternative for instant fabric designing. They help transform even a simple plain outfit into a designer piece within a very short time.
The Kuti makeover:
This is the plain Kurti I had. I loved the elegant blue color of the fabric. I just wanted to add extra some beauty to it. So I chose the rose design DTF sticker. The pink and green color of the design goes very well with the blue color.

The blue color kurti
This is the plain kurti I originally had. I absolutely loved the elegant blue shade of the fabric, and I did not want to overload it with heavy work. I only wanted to enhance its beauty with a simple and graceful design.
For that, I selected a floral rose DTF sticker design. The soft pink roses along with the fresh green leaves blend beautifully with the blue fabric, creating a pleasant and elegant color combination. The floral design added a stylish designer touch to the plain kurti while still keeping its simple and classy look intact.
Now th DTF sticker transfer and design process:
Keep the dress on a surface, and place the design upright , wherever it has to be placed.

Place the design
Then slowly iron on the design.

Once it gets stuck , remove the upper plastic sheet. If it doesn’t get stuck, iron on it again.

Adding extra beauty with laces:
I also had a few matching laces that perfectly complemented both the dress and the floral design. To enhance the overall look, I decided to use those laces as additional detailing. I attached the lace neatly along the border, neckline, and sleeves, which gave the kurti a more finished and designer appearance.

The lace and butterfly motifs
Since the DTF print already had beautiful butterfly elements in it, I wanted the embellishments to blend naturally with the theme. I had some butterfly motifs with me, so I added them near the floral design. These small butterfly details matched beautifully with the print and made the entire kurti look more creative, elegant, and visually balanced.

The final look
With these kind of motifs and laces, we can even design sarees too. I will share soon one such saree.
