Rosette Doily in Tatting – Elegant Handmade Lace Decoration
My Obsession with the Rosette Doily in Tatting
I have a special obsession with this beautiful rosette doily pattern. I have already made several doilies using the same pattern, but somehow I never get tired of making it. The pattern is quite easy to follow, doesn’t take much time to complete, and the finished doily always looks so delicate and elegant. The pattern is from Tat-a-Renda.
What I love most about this pattern is how such simple rosettes come together to create a beautiful lace doily. Every time I finish one, I feel like making another in a different colour combination. These handmade tatting doilies also make lovely gifts, adding a personal touch that makes them even more special.
Here is the latest one I made.

The doily I made
Beautiful Combination of Turquoise Blue and Yellow:
When it comes to any art or craft, colour combinations play a very important role. Even if we choose beautiful colours individually, they may not always look good together. If the colours are not in harmony, the design can lose its charm and overall beauty.
For this rosette doily, I used turquoise green thread from Doli. Turquoise is one of my favourite colours because it goes beautifully with so many other shades. I have already tried combining turquoise with pink, red, and a few other colours, but I was a little doubtful about pairing it with a light colour like yellow.
Actually, I had some green thread left over after completing a big doily. So I thought, why not experiment with it? Without thinking too much, I started making the rosettes using turquoise and yellow threads.
To my surprise, the combination turned out quite beautiful! The soft yellow complements the turquoise rosettes, giving the entire doily a fresh and cheerful look. Sometimes, experimenting with leftover threads leads to unexpectedly lovely results!

Decorating with a Handmade Rosette Doily
Handmade tatting doilies are not just beautiful pieces of lace; they can also be used in many creative ways for home decoration. This rosette doily, with its delicate floral design and lovely colour combination, can add a touch of elegance to any corner of the home.
You can place it on a side table, coffee table, or dressing table as a decorative accent. It also looks beautiful when placed under a small flower vase or other decorative items. Another interesting idea is to frame the doily against a contrasting background and turn it into a piece of handmade wall art. I feel the turquoise and yellow rosettes look especially beautiful against a dark background.
These rosette doilies can also be used to decorate cushion covers, table runners, or fabric bags. And of course, they make wonderful handmade gifts. A little creativity can turn this simple tatting lace doily into a beautiful decorative piece.
This I have given as gift to a friend. She liked it a lot. She is planning to attach it on her dress. Let’s see how it looks.
