Decoupage on tatting shuttles
Decoupage on tatting shuttles blends two art forms — delicate lace-making and decorative paper art — making the shuttle itself a piece of art. Decoupage is always my favourite craft. I have used decoupage on boxes, trays, organizers etc. This is the first time I tried it on tatting shuttles. This was in my wish list from long.
Why Decoupage on a Shuttle?
Tatting is delicate, timeless, and full of rhythm. Decoupage, on the other hand, is vibrant, layered, and expressive. Bringing them together felt like telling a story — of tradition meeting whimsy. I was searching for right wooden shuttles for this, I got it recently in my hometown Kumta. I tried it using tissues decoupage. The shuttles are very small, so it is very deifficult to decoupage. But I am happy with the end results.
Here are the shuttles with decoupage:

I have decoupaged on both the sides. The upper row show ne side of the shuttles, and the lower row the other side of the respectively shuttles.
Working on this project was meditative — just like tatting. It reminded me that even the tools we use can reflect our personality and joy. Now, when I pick up my shuttle, it’s not just a tool — it’s a tiny piece of art in my hand.
If this was on your wish list too, give it a try! And if you’ve already done it, I’d love to see your creations. Tag me or share in the comments below. Let’s celebrate this fusion of crafts!
