Design of the week- saree design with vintage silk border

This border is a vintage border. This I had taken out from my mother’s saree, might be 60 years old saree. I could not use the saree, as that was not in good condition. Normally people sell the silk saree borders. Many buyers visit the houses  in South India to buy vintage silk  borders. But vintage silk borders are really goo to design sarees. If it is attached to any simple saree too, it looks very good. One can use some motifs and kundans to highlight the saree.

I could not get right printed material for this saree. Initially, I wanted to use Georgette or  printed silk. Due to this lock down time, my favourite markets to get silk or cotton are closed. Though it is open now, it is risky to go anywhere unnecessarily. I selected a saree from my stash, and designed with this vintage silk border.

Because of lock down I had to manage with whatever saree I had.
