Elegant Touch with Tatted Kuchchu – A Handmade Finish to a Golden Saree
Golden sarees are always in trend. There’s something timeless about a saree finished with handmade details. This tatted kucchu is adding beauty to the saree. This golden saree, was gifted by some one to me.It is elegant with woven patterns and shimmering texture, was already a beauty.I thoought of adding a tatted kuchchu.

The kucchu

The kucchu
I have used the motifs which I used earlier. The edging is made using tatting—a form of lacework done with a shuttle. I used a traditional floral pattern in gold thread and pink thread. For pink thread I have used golden beads and for the golden thread I used pearls. First I made 18 flowers and spaced neatly along the pallu edge, fixed with hand stitch. Each tiny motif is handcrafted, adding not only visual richness but also a tactile elegance to the saree.

Motifs

Motifs
Tatting on saree kuchchu is not commonly seen, making it a rare fusion of traditional Indian drapery with vintage European lacework. It’s delicate, durable, and makes the saree truly one-of-a-kind.
Tip for crafters: When working with tatting on sarees, choose a contrasting or metallic thread to make the work pop. Also, keep the motifs small and consistent to maintain the flow of the pallu.
This piece was made with love, patience, and a passion for reviving traditional arts in modern ways. I hope this inspires you to try your hands at combining tatting with your saree projects too!
