Work In Progress on Wednesday – Saree design with crochet

Though I have designed many sarees and also have made sweaters , shawls and doilies using crochet, never used crochet in designing saree. I have used crochet to design a T- shirt. Last week I have shared a WIP crochet doily. This week taken up  a saree to design with crochet motifs. I had some crochet motifs in my stash. Using them with a crocheted lace. Here it is:

I have finished another saree design with embroidery. I have used reverse of shadow work here. The entire saree has small motifs, which I embroidered with silk thread.

Motifs all over the saree

This is completely hand embroidered. The saree has two different colored border on each side, Green and Pink. Near Green color border I have embroidered with green thread and near pink one I have used same shade.

Till the fleets, I have embroidered up to half of the width of the saree. And near pallu I have embroidered all over the pallu.

You can see I have used reverse shadow work to fill the motifs. And attached small kundan on each motif Here is the closer view of the motifs:

Phew ! at last one saree designing with embroidery is finished. I have many sarees to be embroidered in queue. For some I have bought the threads, for some I need to buy. Buying embroidery thread online is very risky. Sometimes we don’t get the exact shade. Due to the health crisis in the world, it is scary yo go out too. I will plan to use whatever threads I have. Hope to share all the designs soon :).
