Designer Kurta Set with Screen Printing – A Handmade Gift for a Friend
Why I designed this Kurti set?
I designed this kurta set as a handmade birthday gift for my friend. I always feel handmade gifts are much more special than ready-made ones because they carry creativity, effort, and emotions together. Machine-made designs can be found anywhere, but handmade creations are unique and personal. There will never be another piece exactly like this.
While designing this outfit, I wanted to create something elegant, customised, and meaningful. Every fabric choice, color combination, screen printed detail, and patchwork element was selected carefully to suit her personality and make the dress look unique. Handmade gifts always create a special emotional connection because they are made with time, love, and personal attention rather than mass production.

Choosing the Color Combination
Initially, I was thinking of designing a dress specially for her birthday. Since pink is her favourite color, my first thought was to create the entire outfit in pink. But at the same time, her husband always says that cream color suits her very well. For a moment, I even considered designing the dress in blue to give it a different elegant look.
After thinking about all these options, I finally decided to combine cream and pink together. The cream color gives the outfit a soft and graceful elegance, while the pink adds brightness, richness, and a festive touch. This combination created the perfect balance between subtle beauty and vibrant charm.
Patchwork Placement Strategy
As I had decided for cream and pink combination, I would have gone for Pink embroidery on cream dress. But embroidery takes lot of time, so this time decided with patchwork. On the neck made a leaf shaped patchwork with Pink banarasi fbric. Then on th border of the Kurti also used the same fabric. To highlight the pinkcolor, I attached some embelishments on it.

How Patchwork Creates a Designer Look
This type of explanation is excellent for Pinterest and Google because it teaches design logic.
For this dress, I selected cotton silk fabric in cream color for the top and pink for the bottom. Before finalising the fabric and colors, I thought about it several times because my friend prefers simple and elegant designs. So I had to be very careful while selecting both the material and the color combination.
I wanted the outfit to look graceful and rich without appearing too flashy or heavily decorated. That is why I chose cotton silk fabric. Cotton silk has a soft elegance of its own. It is comfortable to wear, has a subtle shine, and gives a classy look without being overpowering. The cream color adds sophistication, while the pink brings warmth and vibrancy to the overall design. Together, they created the exact simple yet elegant look I had in mind for her.
