Handmade Tatting Rakhi – A Thread of Love and Craft
Rakhee, the sacred thread that binds the bond of siblings, becomes even more special when crafted with love. This year, I decided to give my Rakhee creations a handmade twist — by combining the delicate art of tatting with festive cheer. I love making handmade rakhis always. Last year I had made rakhis with resin.

Glimpse of My Handmade Rakhi Collection
These rakhis were created using tatting lace techniques, beads, pearls, and vibrant threads:
-
Pastel green floral motifs, decorated with beads and a central stone, perfect for a vintage yet classy rakhi look.

Tatted with zari thread
A pink rose center rakhi, framed with elegant lace and tiny hot pink beadwork. The Blooming Floral Rakhi, displayed on a rich purple handmade paper base, is a vibrant and eye-catching creation. Crafted using shuttle tatting, this rakhi features petal-like loops in a rainbow of colors — orange, blue, green, pink, and purple — radiating from a central golden bead. Each petal tip is adorned with tiny golden beads that add a touch of festive shimmer. The bright red satin cord ties the design together, making it not just a rakhi, but a miniature celebration of color, tradition, and artistic expression.

Why Handmade Rakhis?
In a world of mass production, handmade rakhees carry the warmth and individuality that store-bought ones often lack. Crafting these allowed me to:
-
Personalize each rakhi for my brothers.
-
Use tatting lacework to create intricate and lasting designs.
-
Infuse traditional craft into a modern festive celebration.
Coming up with some more rakhi designs.
Love, Laugh and Live the life to the fullest,
-Ranjana
