Design of the week- Simple rose embroidery design pattern
Every week, I share a new embroidery design for readers who love to try simple and beautiful patterns. This week’s design of the week is a classic rose, created with two different stitches to show how the same outline can be transformed in unique ways.
The rose embroidery design pattern:

The pattern
The rose design begins with a simple pencil sketch. It’s quick to trace and suitable for beginners.
Working with Chain Stitch

Embroidery design pattern
The first version of this embroidery design pattern was completed with chain stitch.
-
Chain stitch gives a slightly raised and textured look.
-
It works beautifully for outlining petals and leaves.
-
The flexibility of the stitch makes it easy to work on curves like rose petals.
The red rose with green leaves in the image below shows how the chain stitch highlights the floral design elegantly.
Buttonhole Stitch Version
For the second attempt, I used buttonhole stitch.
-
Buttonhole stitch adds a more solid and decorative finish.
-
It looks especially attractive on leaves and gives a filled-in effect without completely covering the fabric.
-
This stitch is slightly denser, giving the rose more definition.
The blue rose shows how the same embroidery design pattern can look very different just by changing the stitch.
Why This Design?
-
Easy to transfer.
-
Can be done quickly.
-
Looks different with each stitch variation.
-
Suitable for decorating home linen, garments, and accessories.
Try this week’s rose embroidery design pattern, and see how your stitches bring it to life. Don’t forget to experiment with colors and different stitches to create your own unique version. This can also be tried with backstitch and satin stitch.
