A Royal Navy Blue Handpainted Saree with Roses

This handpainted saree I finished recently.I had started working on it long back, but for some reason, I didn’t have the confidence to finish it. It stayed folded away, waiting for the right moment. Recently,I joined fabric painting course, which gave me confidence. I painted on a Kuti too. I decided to pick up my brushes again and complete it—and I’m so glad I did. The result is a saree that not only reflects art but also tells a personal story of patience, courage, and rediscovery.

Saree Base and Color Theme

The saree is crafted on a deep navy blue base that naturally highlights the colors painted on it. The fabric is fine satin crape.The richness of the fabric acts as a perfect backdrop for floral motifs, creating a regal and sophisticated look.

Floral Motifs – A Garden on Fabric

I chose rose motifs for this saree.The design of this saree revolves around roses in shades of pink, purple, and lilac. Each rose is hand-painted with careful blending to give a soft, realistic effect. The subtle shading of petals creates a three-dimensional depth, making the flowers bloom gracefully on the fabric.I have used two types of motifs,

• On some parts of the saree, single rose motifs are scattered elegantly. These add a touch of simplicity, making the drape appear graceful for day wear.

• On other sections, clusters of roses with lush green leaves form bouquet-like patterns. These heavier designs bring a festive and ornamental richness, perfect for special occasions and celebrations.

• On the pallu, clusters of pink and purple roses bloom gracefully, making it the highlight of the saree.

• The pleats have smaller rose motifs, so when gathered, they create a garden-like flow.

• The border area carries both single roses and bunches, giving the saree a complete and balanced look.

• This saree pairs beautifully with a contrast blouse like sky blue, magenta, or silver.

• Light jewelry such as pearls or silver ornaments go well with the floral theme.

• It is perfect for festive occasions, functions, or even as a graceful outfit for special evenings.

I am planning to go with rose lace material for the blouse. Also a tatted edge as saree Kucchu. Do comment how you will style this handpainted saree.
