I Bought Saree Laces Online (Meesho, Amazon, Flipkart) – Honest Review- Part 2
Since I regularly design sarees and dresses, I’m always on the lookout for good quality laces, motifs, and embellishments at reasonable prices. In this post, I’m sharing some of the laces, motifs, and tools that I found useful for sewing and designing. I had already shared a few laces in my previous post—this is a continuation with more findings.
Golden color tissue lace with elephant motifs:

Elephant motif lace
This is a golden tissue lace with beautifully woven elephant motifs in zari. The motifs are highlighted with pink and green thread work, which adds a rich and traditional touch.
What I liked about this lace is the detailing—the elephants are clearly defined, and the color combination stands out well on the golden base.
This lace can be used along the border of a saree for a grand look. Another interesting option is to cut the square sections and use them as individual motifs while designing a dupatta, saree, or dress. In that case, a simpler lace can be used for the border to balance the design.
Piping laces:

Set of piping laces
Piping is commonly used in dress and saree designing to give a neat and defined finish. Usually, we stitch piping manually, but nowadays ready-made pipings are easily available.I bought these ready-made pipings in different shades of gold—gold, dull gold, and rose gold. The color range itself is very useful while designing, as we can match it with different fabrics.Initially, I had a doubt whether these pipings would work only for straight edges. But when I tried them on a circular design, they worked perfectly without any difficulty.Apart from these shades, many colorful pipings are also available, which can be used for contrast designs.
White color floral design lace:

Floral lace in cotton
I am always fond of white laces and usually keep a small stash with me. White lace goes well with almost any color and fabric, which makes it very useful while designing.
This is a white cotton lace in a floral design. The pattern is simple but elegant, and it can be used as a border for sarees, dresses, or dupattas.
Personally, I feel this lace works even better when each flower is cut and used as individual motifs. When placed separately, the design stands out more and gives a delicate, handcrafted look.
This lace can also be combined with embroidery to enhance the overall design. These floral motifs can be painted with fabric paints to give any contrast.
Green lace with leaf shapes:

Green leaf shaped lace
This is a narrow green lace with a delicate leaf-shaped pattern. The design is simple and gives a neat, flowing look.
Since it is narrow, it works well as a border for dupattas or light designs. For sarees, it can be combined with a broader lace to create a layered and more detailed border.
This type of lace is especially useful when we want a subtle design without making it too heavy.
Special type frilled lace:
This is a special type of frilled lace in a variegated orange shade. The gathered (frilled) texture gives it a rich and decorative look.
This lace works very well on frock edges and kids’ wear, adding a soft and playful finish. It can also be used on sarees, especially for cotton sarees as saree kuchu.
To enhance the look further, colorful beads can be added along with this lace, which gives a more festive and detailed finish.
Apart from garments, this lace can also be used for home decor—like bed sheets and cushion edges—to create a bright and attractive border.

Frilled lace
After exploring different types of laces from online shopping, I feel each lace has its own use depending on the design requirement. I will sahre about some mre embelishments and tools in coming posts.
Until then,
